De Al Tijd

De Al Tijd (The All Time) is an interactive DVD. A spectator has the possibility to touch coordinates on a map, a touchscreen, and see what happens on that spot in the landscape. The work can be seen as a perpetual motion. An endless circulation of time. It is concentrates on the non-linear and circular instead of a sequence from beginning to end. The 12 scenes can be viewed in any order, whenever a film is viewed it automatically returns to the beginning screen, the map. The people in the landscape all have to deal with this circular form of time. People caught in patterns, caught in time, in repetition.

For example, the scene the Barometer is a visualization of a (weather) man who looks for his Barometer. In order to be prepared on every day. But the unexpected has overcome him. A flood has swept away everything. Only a couple of lanterns remain to be seen.

The scene is about predicting and concept of tide. How the water once in a while returns to a certain place. How we are trying to find ways to explain this.

An island of time.
